FullMetal Alchemist: Brotherhood Episode 2 ~ The Past To The Present
I spy…two little brats!
It seems that Bones is sticking to the manga with the second episode of Fullmetal Alchemist, and I’ve got to hand it to them for doing a nice job of it. The animation’s consistency, the excellent way they portrayed an scarred Edward after his failed human transmutation attempt, and the plain creepiness of his trip to and through the ‘Door of Truth’ continues to make an impression on how I see where the season is going. In a good way of course.
Don’t I look creepy?
Karate? Or Jujitsu?
I can make a spear from anything!
The story’s progress was everything I expected to be like, considering I’ve watched the first season and read the manga already beforehand. But the way they animated the Edward scene after he lost his leg and Alphonse was quite memorable and emotional. Quite well done indeed. They’ve also kept the small part where Ed takes the State Alchemist examination and threatens King Bradley with a transmuted spear. The result was still as amusing with Bradley simply cutting the spear in half without being noticed. As skilled as ever I might add since he’ll be most likely playing a larger role later on.
Remember me?!
On a completely separate note, it is mentioned that Isaac (the Ice Alchemist) used a form of Alchemy from Xing. This will certainly play a large part in the future if they are indeed following the manga story line. Well, the plot will start in proper with the Elric brother’s arrival in Lior next episode. I’m wondering if they’ll change anything to fit in with time constraints, but from the looks of it the major parts seemed to be there at least.
