K-On Episode 2 ~ Rich Girls Sure Come In Handy

Published by necroseer at 12:30 pm under Anime, K-On Edit This

Cute~~~

So we finally embark on our second episode of K-On and I’ve to one conclusion: Yui is undoubtably the most air headed girl I’ve ever encountered. In a way it’s cute, but it’s kind of irking me a little bit too.  Apart from that I’ve grown quite fond of the characters and find the way they fit in line with one another to be fun to watch and amusing to follow.

Mio explodes with thought.

Yui’s goal for the episode is to buy a guitar. And though it sounds simple enough, things are far from easy for her. Her ability to get distracted by the smallest things even astounds me. The episode capitalizes on this trademark ditziness and we see her causing trouble just by crossing a road. On the otherhand Mio’s character is something I an emphasize with - the quiet, mature but secretly shy character. Her imagination is no where as bad as Yui’s but it’s still pretty out there, especially considering her fears. Of course, Tsumugi remains stoic and poised throughout (if still a bit naive about life) and Ritsu is still as hyper as ever.

Huh…

Um…?

You’re thinking too much again :P

Admittedly the fact that the salesperson at the music store could tell that Tsumugi was their president’s daughter by her eyebrows alone is simply amusing than her bargaining down the price of guitar from a grand 250,000 yen to a mere 50,000 yen. Impressive indeed. They sure are lucky that she’s there - where else would the seemingly unlimited sweets and cakes that she supplies the club come from? Having a rich girl in the club sure comes in handy. Back to bargaining, and we also see that Ritsu tried the same thing and made the salesperson cry as a result when she was younger. I pity the man.  Funny how she’s passionate about these sort of things, and can’t handle doing a simple job like counting cars that pass by an intersection. Yui’s not much better at that though her facial expressions are still as varied and laugh worthy.

Only 2 episode in and I’ve got to say that K-On has become a favourite of mine already. I still have to say that the opening and endings are nice to listen to every time, but the subtle combination of humour, fun characters, fantastic animation and deformed faces, and the slice of life aspect of what they go through are what draws me to this series. I’m looking forward to more of this series in the following weeks.
