A Certain Magical Index Episode 20 ~ As If A Headshot Was Enough
My frustration has reached the breaking point.
Now there is slow, and then there is slowly. This episode falls in between somewhere. I can’t think of much else to say really. While the plot moves forward, it does so at an excruciating rate - even Accelerator’s miraculous ability to home onto the bad guy doesn’t really help speed things up. While I did find some measure of satisfaction in Accelerator saving Last Order and almost dying to do so, I still don’t quite understand ‘why’. You can check out the screens here or similarly on the slide show below.
There goes the car.
To summarise quickly - Accelerator hurries from the previous episode to locate and scan Last Order with the data finder but runs into a snag when he finds out that our evil scientist friend has already nabbed her. Unbelievably he finds her, and that ugly yellow car, in the next few minutes. The main occupant however is unhappy to see him and thus the decision to ram the car into him. To quite hazardous effect I might add. To be honest, if they had to send an army against Accelerator when he was a kid, what use is a car?
Head shot!
With the car totaled and the damn scientist unconscious, Accelerator goes to Last Order and after hearing her start speaking in tongues (alright, it’s programming language :P) takes it upon himself to use his own powers to try to install a new programming into her head. Unfortunately, our bad guy decides to wake up and shoots Accelerator in the head while he was defenseless. He did seem pretty happy until he realises that Last Order had been cured from the virus, and this unhappiness gets worse when Accelerator comes back from the dead. The real coup de grace comes from a gun shot to the chest though - Yoshikawa comes and saves both Accelerator and Last Order. But for the reason that she wanted to be a teacher rather than a scientist, she also chooses to be kill herself by giving Amai the chance to shoot her too. I just don’t get how someone can just decide to do that. People sure have their share of problems.
*Ribbit!*
Too bad she doesn’t die in the end. Apparently Accelerator saves her by reversing her blood flow, and she’s then healed by our frog faced doctor, who I’m beginning to suspect to be the one they call Heaven Canceler. Having not read the novels I can’t be sure myself, but it seems that he’s just not there for show (he does after all fix Touma up after everything he’s been through). Nice normal ending but I feel cheated that we’re left in the dark about Accelerator and Last Order’s fates. Well, at least next episode we have three new characters making an appearance, namely Sherry Cromwell, our gothic lolita wearing sorcerer, a teacher and another transfer student…all who seem to possess incredible cleavage for some inexplicable reason.
