First Impressions ~ Hetalia Episode 1
The most outstanding ideas go to America.
Even after all the publicity with Hetalia no longer showing on TV due to Korean opposition, we’re still able to see the series via good old webcast. It’s not a particularly long episode, being only 5 minutes, but it was amusing to say the least.
Serious? I think not.
We’re introduced to the various personifications on each country in a global meeting with America beginning off with a suggestion to prevent global warming by shielding the earth with a giant hero. But as things tend to go, everything soon gets out of hand with France and England getting themselves into a brawl with America, China being ignored, Russia being indifferent to it all, and Greece oblivious to the proceedings (being asleep as he is). You can check out some of the antics of the other countries here in the gallery. In the end it comes to Germany to get everyone back on track, only to have Italy ruin the seriousness of it all with his suggestion of pasta in the spotlight.
Attack of the Chibi Empire.
The second half presents us with interesting scenarios regarding our history lessons - beginning with the Roman Empire and his disappearance, Germany’s easy invasion of Italy (only to be confronted by a box of tomatoes…) and the subsequent attempt to reunite Italy with the Republic of Rome (with little Italy running away petulantly in the end).
I don’t know what the fuss is about but it’s a fun episode that pokes a bit at history and the relationship between the nations of the world in a way that’s fun and understandable. Bring more on i say!
