Kannagi Episode 10 ~ Sing Like Your Life Depends On It

Published by necroseer at 4:28 pm under Anime, Kannagi Edit This

I’ve always found musicals to be a cross between the beautiful and the embarrassing. But you add a karaoke box to the mix alongside a variety of fun and wacky songs, it gets to be a lot more light hearted and expressive. Or so i think at any rate. I can’t sing so I’m in no position to compare how music can be expressed but karaoke has always been one of the loudest places i have ever experienced (considering some of the horrendous singing abilities of my friends it definitely forever will be).

So we’re treated to one entire episode dedicated to the awkwardness of karaoke with friends - and finding out that you’re a terrible singer in comparison to the rest. Or so Jin believes. Well, it gets pretty balanced in the end - the various successful and naturally talented singers are pitted against the terrible and the passable.

Nagi especially…i have no idea but he singing of a supposed supermarket theme had some charm to it…on the other hand, i was cringing at the lyrics. Zange too…enthusiasm 10/10…prowess 1/10 unfortunately. Daitetsu surprisingly has a very good bass tone as did Akiba with an anime insert song (who would have guessed). The President of the Art Club on the other hand….well…she either had no dignity or she was into character when she impersonated a loli magical girl while sing the theme song to that specific series. Most of the others found it talented yet disgusting - the singing was fine but the choreography…aren’t otaku popular nowadays?

So we have an entire episode that seeks to develop greater understanding of the karaoke environment and the songs you should choose if you want to save face. Not really. But kudos to the Lucky Star cameo and karaoke room 301.
